چکیده

Aim: Indian mustard [Brassica juncea (Linn.)] is the third vital oilseed crop in world which contributes 28.6% production of oilseeds. Genetic diversity assessment plays a fundamental role preservation and improvement targeted plant species.
Study Design: In present investigation, 196 genotypes including checks were grown field evaluated based on different morpho-physiological traits.
Place Duration Study: All randomized block design with two replications Rabi 2016-17 2017-18 at experimental Department Genetics & Plant Breeding, College Agriculture, Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya, Gwalior, M.P., India.
Methodology: The study was conducted to record morphological physiological traits that play major differentiating genotypes.
Results: Based study, highest genotypic phenotypic coefficients disparity documented for seed yield per tracked by harvest index numbers silique plant. Maximum heritability genetic advance plot index, biological plot, days 50% flowering, length main raceme, plant, seeds silique, 1000-seed weight raceme.
Conclusions: principal component analysis, 15 components evidenced while cluster analysis gave 16 clusters. inter-cluster distance between 9 suggests hybridization scheme considering parents from these clusters supposed be given higher occurrence better-wanted combination(s) expansion beneficial stocks.

GENERATION MEAN ANALYSIS OF WATER STRESS TOLERANCE PARAMETERS IN INDIAN MUSTARD [ Brassica juncea (L.) Czern & Coss] CROSSES

Little information is available on the genetics of physiological traits for drought tolerance in Indian mustard. Generation mean analysis was performed using two crosses (Maya x BPR543-2) and (BPR543-2 x BPR2) to study the nature and magnitude of gene effects on seed yield and physiological characters in Indian mustard. The F1, F2, BC1 and BC2 of these crosses, along with P1 and P2, were studie...

A Comprehensive Study on Phytoextractive Potential of Sri Lankan Mustard (Brassica Juncea (L.) Czern. and Coss) Genotypes

Heavy metal pollution is an environmental concern. Phytoremediation is a low-cost, environmental-friendly approach to solve this problem. Mustard has the potential in reducing heavy metal contents in soils. Among mustard (Brassica juncea (L.) Czern & Coss) genotypes in Sri Lanka, accessions 7788, 8831 and 5088 give significantly a high yield. Therefore, present study was conducted to quantify t...

Cloning and nucleotide sequence of a cDNA encoding S-adenosyl-L-methionine synthetase from mustard (Brassica juncea [L.] Czern & Coss).

Ethylene, a gaseous hormone in plants, is involved in the regulation of a wide range of plant physiological processes, including leaf abscission, fruit ripening, and flower senescence (Yang and Hoffman, 1984). SAM or Adomet synthetase (ATP:L-methionine S-adenosyltransferase; EC 2.5.1.6) catalyzes the conversion of Met to SAM in the presence of ATP and Mg2+, which is the first step in ethylene b...

Nucleotide sequence of a cDNA clone encoding 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate synthase in mustard (Brassica juncea [L.] Czern & Coss).

Ethylene, a gaseous plant hormone, is involved in regulation of various physiological responses during plant growth and development. These include seed germination, abscission, fruit ripening, and plant senescence (Yang and Hoffman, 1984). Plants also produce high levels of ethylene when they are under environmental stresses or pathogen attacks. In ethylene biosynthesis, the precursor Met is co...

Alleviation of Cadmium Toxicity in Brassica juncea L. (Czern. & Coss.) by Calcium Application Involves Various Physiological and Biochemical Strategies

Calcium (Ca) plays important role in plant development and response to various environmental stresses. However, its involvement in mitigation of heavy metal stress in plants remains elusive. In this study, we examined the effect of Ca (50 mM) in controlling cadmium (Cd) uptake in mustard (Brassica juncea L.) plants exposed to toxic levels of Cd (200 mg L(-1) and 300 mg L(-1)). The Cd treatment ...
